The Interstate Mullet Toss & Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach Party is legendary. What started as just a reason to party has become one of the biggest beach parties on the coast. Those who participate in the Mullet Toss will throw a dead mullet over the state line of Florida and Alabama to see who gets the farthest.  Hotel bookings are done months, if not years in advance for this event. People travel from across the globe to see what all the fuss is about here at the Flora-Bama; the memories are priceless.

HOW MUCH IS IT TO ENTER THE BAR?

$10 for 21+ and $15 13-20yr olds

The bar is open to all ages until 6pm, then it is 21+

WHEN IS THE MULLET TOSS?

The Interstate Mullet Toss is always held the last FULL weekend in April.

WHAT IS A MULLET?

 Psych! You thought it was a really bad haircut. Technically it is and you will see plenty of those here too. Please, don't hate.

 A mullet is one of the more popular and plentiful fish indigenous to this area.
 It is the only fish with a gizzard and is said to possess mystical properties.Known as bait fish on the east coast and a local delicacy here.    

WHAT IS A MULLET TOSS?

It's like a big flash mob on the beach where a fish throwing event breaks out. Word.

A Mullet Toss consists of individuals on the beach throwing a mullet, from a 10-foot circle in Florida across the state line into Alabama. Not to mention a great excuse to throw a weekend long party, with lots of fun activities, great music and food!

This year's event will feature local celebrities tossing out a few fish at noon, each day (Friday, Saturday & Sunday). 
 

WHY TOSS A MULLET?

Because anyone with a haircut like that deserves to be tossed. Just kidding, we heart mullets of all kinds.

Let's get serious, a contribution for each fish flung will go to Local Youth Charities, including local school education and prevention program from the Community Drug & Alcohol Council, Inc. (CDAC) which offers programs, community support and collaboration to address drug and alcohol abuse, tobacco, mental health issues and violence both in the home and on our streets.  

Each year, with your help, we raise and contribute over $20,000 to local charities, especially youth organizations.
    

WHEN DOES THE ACTUAL TOSSING OF THE MULLET BEGIN?

 
Whenever we sober up or the times below. Whichever comes first.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO TOSS THE MULLET?


$15 and includes a souvenir t-shirt, with portion of proceeds to benefit the Community Drug & Alcohol Council, Inc., local Boys & Girls Clubs, and youth groups on both sides of the line!

No but they are really, really friendly.


WHAT HAPPENS TO MULLET AFTER THE MULLET TOSS?

We feed them to the birds. These guys are totally not hungry.
    

   

HOW MANY PEOPLE USUALLY COME TO THE MULLET TOSS?

A couple of our closest friends over the course of the 3 day weekend.
 
      

WHAT ARE THE RULES FOR TOSSING A MULLET?


Don't wear this:
 
  • You will be tossing one whole mullet (approximately 1 lb.) across the Florida/Alabama state line
  • Must submit registration form at the beach.
  • $15.00 Entry Fee to throw the mullet.  You will receive our Interstate Mullet Toss t-shirt. The cover to get into the Flora-Bama is different than the fee to throw. 
  • NO gloves or sand on mullet allowed.
  • Mullet will be picked out of the water bucket. After you throw, retrieve your mullet and  toss it back into the bucket. THANK YOU!
  • Mullet will be thrown from a 10' circle down a designated alley.
  • No stepping out of circle during your throw and follow through or you will be disqualified.
  • Throwing your mullet out of bounds is an automatic disqualification.
  • DON'T MISS! One chance only to qualify for finals.
  • Six finalists in both the men's and women's divisions each day.

WHERE DO I PARK?




Why drive yourself when you can travel in true Mullet Toss style on our state of the art Flora-Bama bus?
 We promise, after a few bushwhackers, it corners like it's on rails.


 Parking is very limited. There Will Be A $10.00 charge for parking to be shared with local charities Thursday night in the beach lot and Friday through Sunday day and night.


There are options...carpool, take a taxi or ride one of the Flora-Bama buses. Other options include jetpacks, horseback, piggyback and spaceship but we have less parking for that.
