While vacationing in Ontario, Canada, my wife asked if there was anything I'd like to do for my 38th B-day (which was the next day). Jokingly, I suggested the Flora-Bama. (I had always wanted to go there, but New Orleans always seemed to intercept me en route.) 20 hours later I was sipping a cold Corona on the deck and enjoying some of the best music I had heard in years.

I remember sitting in the Florabama in about 1980 all sunburned and sand-y and listening to this really nice guy play the guitar and sing and having so much fun! And it was only later when he came over to have a beer with us that I was introduced to him and his name was Jimmy Buffet.....nice guy, he might make it big some day....you think? Advice please! A few of us friends stayed down in Kiva Dunes last year during the Mullet Toss weekend. Had a blast and are making plans to return. This time only three of us are coming down and have more flexibility in where to stay (there was 12 of us last year and was a "golf" trip primarily). Anyhow, is there a nice hotel or condos for rent close to the Floribama that you would recommend. There are three of us, and will be staying there Thurs, Fri and Sat that weekend (3 days). Looking for something pretty reasonable, maybe $100/person/night max. Really appreciate your help. We'll probably be spending 2x that alone per day at the Floribama!
